The Alumni Table
Hosted by Circle—an online community platform—the Alumni Table allows SPACE alumni, alongside former employees and interns, to connect and collaborate in an exclusive forum. The goal of this is to provide a place to share ideas, conversation, and resources—all while supporting the future of SPACE.
This community is available to alumni, former staff, and interns who makes a recurring or annual donation.
To join for 2024, make your recurring or annual donation here. We’ll follow up with a simple survey to get you into the community.
Members set up a profile with a biography, shareable skills, social sites, and websites. These profiles are searchable by other members and members can use the private, direct message feature to communicate one-on-one. Upon setting up an account all members will be added to the following spaces:
SPACE Announcements
SPACE admin uses this to post important announcements and off-platform opportunities (like application announcements for SPACE and other opportunities or special invites to virtual and in-person events). One of the first announcements—members of the Alumni Table will receive priority when reviewing applications for the 2024 host positions.
The Dinner Table
This space is designed to facilitate the same conversation, collaboration, and community that the SPACE table creates. Members can post general conversation, requests for feedback, questions about the industry or process, requests for help with parts they are stuck on in their work, suggestions for things to check out, etc. All in a private, SPACE-only community.
The Call Board
This space operates the same at the Dinner Table but with a lens on sharing opportunities, needs, and skills. Members can post opportunities for funding, calls for participants for readings, share other skills that others might want to solicit (graphic design, website building, copy editing, etc), list sublet opportunities/needs, etc.
The Firepit
SPACE is dedicated to hosting several virtual “firepit” conversations throughout the year led by specialized hosts—from alumni, to SPACE staff past and present, to SPACE board members, to special guests. These virtual experiences will be streamed live and captured on video and shared at the Firepit Library. When appropriate, they will also include instructions (for events like cooking demos and apothecary projects).
Upcoming events:
June’s Event: Discussing Non-Profit Boards with Kelly Burdick
July’s Event: TV Writing with Monet Hurst-Mendoza
Upcoming events
SPACE staff will use this to share upcoming Firepit events, any in-person SPACE hosted events, etc. Members are also able to list events they would like to share with other members—this can include live shows, readings, book and music releases, talks, etc with links to purchase.
