We can’t believe it’s already November. Looking back, it’s been an eventful and inspiring year of residents, gatherings, and community-building. And as 2022 winds down, we’ll be deepening those connections even further: by Making SPACE.
Over the next eight weeks, take a journey with us through the physical and sensory landscape of SPACE on Ryder Farm. Each week, SPACE artists will share a site-specific memory of a place on the farm that supported and nurtured their creative process. The residents who have moved through these places, both this year and over the last decade, have charged the landscape with their collective energy. And the farm has found its way into their work in turn – a cycle of energy and nourishment that has long been SPACE’s hallmark.
Kicking things off will be: Nicole Miazgowicz, a 2021 Creative Resident and visual artist, who's daily walks by the pond were a mediative and inspirational practice.

Nicole is currently working on a new series exploring memory, nostalgia, and the importance of place as a character in our lives, which will culminate with a showing in late 2023/early 2024.
We fundamentally believe that artists deserve the time to create new works and to envision new, sustainable futures. SPACE’s mission remains: to create an environment singular in its ability to invigorate artists and innovators and their work.

ABOUT THE POND
As if a pastoral painting has come to life, this natural piece of landscape at Ryder Farm provides the perfect canvas for watching the changing seasons. A stunning view of the pond can be seen from many of the artists rooms and workspaces. It has also served as a backdrop to play readings, outdoor dinners, and secret meetings on the worn bench nestled at its shore line. Throughout the year herons, geese, and ducks call the pond home, and it is a joy to witness their beauty.
