Applying for Come to the Table will be a three step process. In the first step, we invite applicants to send a Letter of Intent (LOI) and short work sample that will be reviewed by a selection council composed of SPACE alumni and two SPACE staff members representing artists, administrators, and educators. Applicants invited to the second step will be asked to submit a personal bio and project description. In the third step, invited applicants will have a one-on-one virtual interview.

SPACE on Ryder Farm is accepting a total of 500 applications for the Come to the Table Initiative in 2024.  This number will allow for our Selection Council to give each application the consideration it deserves. While we would like to be able to review more applications, we acknowledge the time and investment you put into applications and we want to match that effort within our own capacity. We are requiring registrations for these slots. After the slots are filled we will begin a first come, first served wait list.

Registration will begin December 8 at 10:00 AM EST.

Once registered, applicants will be sent a link to fill out the first step application. Applications will be due December 15th by midnight EST.

General Application FAQ

How do I know my application was received?

  • After clicking “Submit,” you will receive a confirmation message.

Can I submit an application in a language other than English?

  • SPACE is currently only able to accept application materials in English.

Why is SPACE collecting demographic data?

  • The demographic section is entirely optional. You may answer none, some, or all of that section. SPACE collects this data to better understand which communities we are and are not serving. Your answers are not shared with our selection council.

  • We acknowledge that these categories will not reflect the nuances of everyone’s identity. Applicants who wish to share more may do so in the final question, “Is there any additional demographic information you would like to share?”

Will there be a waitlist?

  • Yes, every stage of the application process will have a waitlist to ensure the highest number of applications are considered. Following the third round, if any accepted resident is unable to attend a residency during the season, we will offer positions to those on the final waitlist.

Will SPACE provide feedback on applications?

  • SPACE can provide written feedback for applicants who make it to Step Two and Three of the process. Requests for feedback can be made in writing between March 18-22, 2024 to residencies@spaceonryderfarm.org.
